罗杰·伊伯特（Roger Ebert，1942—2013 ），生于伊利诺伊州厄巴纳（Urbana），在伊利诺伊大学、开普敦大学和芝加哥大学主修英语，于1967年成为《芝加哥太阳时报》（Chicago Sun-Times）影评人，1975年成为第一位因写影评获普利策艺术评论奖的作 者。同年，他开始与Gene Siskel长期合作，在电视上主持电影评论类节目“Siskel & Ebert”。1999年Siskel辞世后，他改与Richard Roeper合作，节目亦更名为“Ebert & Roeper”。自1969年起，伊伯特一直担任芝加哥大学“Fine Arts Program”的电影课讲师，同时任伊利诺伊大学电影与媒体学兼职教授。其间，他获得科罗拉多大学荣誉博士学位，三十余载，他每年都在该大学的世界事务会议（Conference on World Affairs）上逐镜分析一部电影。1999年，伊伯特在伊利诺伊大学创立“沧海遗珠电影节”（Overlooked Films Festival），专门推介被忽略的佳片，每年都吸引许多观众和影人参与。
