as they made their way through the cheering throngs.
The doughboys were from all over the United States???
from all walks of life. Two-thirds of them were green
soldiers who d been civilians only a couple of months
before; the rest were grizzled old regular army men
who d served with the cavalry on the Mexican border???
and some of the old sergeants and officers had fought
in the Spanish-American War.
