阿莱霍?卡彭铁尔（1904-1980），古巴著名小说家、新闻记者、音乐理论家、文学批评家、外交官，拉丁美洲文坛巨匠。他将超现实主义和本地化融为一体，全面地反映了拉美大陆的现状，对拉美文学的发展起过巨大的推动作用，被尊为拉丁美洲小说的先行者。
卡彭铁尔一九〇四年生于古巴哈瓦那，后在哈瓦那大学攻读音乐和建筑学，在文学、历史、哲学、音乐、建筑、绘画方面皆有颇高造诣，是拉丁美洲文学界少有的百科全书式作家。大学肄业后，卡彭铁尔因反对马查多独裁统治被捕。一九三三年，他在狱中写就的第一部长篇小说《埃古-扬巴-奥》在马德里出版。
一九三九年，卡彭铁尔回到古巴，执教于哈瓦那大学，后曾旅居于委内瑞拉、海地等国，一九五九年古巴革命胜利后再次回国，成为古巴文学艺术界的领军人物。他创作的长篇小说《消逝的足迹》、《人间王国》、《光明世纪》，短篇集《时间之战》，以及几部音乐评论集和文学评论集等，都对当代拉美文学造成深远影响。由于他在文学事业上的辉煌成就，他于一九七五年荣获墨西哥阿方索?雷耶斯国际奖，一九七七年获西班牙塞万提斯文学奖，一九七九年获法国美第奇奖。
一九八〇年，阿莱霍?卡彭铁尔病逝于巴黎，遗体运回古巴后，古巴政府为他举行了隆重的国葬。
