Balconies of Istanbul has been prepared by the combined efforts of Sheree Barka and Oya Sengsr. It is a selection of some of the most beautiful of the beautiful balconies for which Istanbul is so famous. Believing that the time had come to preserve this national legacy, Barka and Sengsr started their long and arduous task of searching out balconies and recording them photographically. Balconies from different centuries in different neighbourhoods speak for themselves in the photographs.
